This Privacy Policy for Harbor Ready LLC (“Harbor,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect personal information when you use our websites, mobile applications, products, and related services, including any service that links to this Privacy Policy.

Harbor is an exam-readiness system that helps students understand what matters for an upcoming exam, check what they know, identify readiness gaps, and stay on track until they are ready.

This notice explains our personal-information practices and your available choices and rights. Acknowledging it does not replace any separate consent required by law.

Summary

We collect information you provide, information created through your use of Harbor, and technical information collected automatically.

We use this information to operate Harbor, personalize your exam-readiness experience, generate readiness predictions and recommendations, improve our services, communicate with you, prevent misuse, and comply with legal obligations.

We may share information with service providers that help us operate Harbor, such as hosting providers, analytics tools, payment processors, authentication providers, customer support tools, and security vendors. Class contributions also support shared study materials: processed content may be available to classmates, reused across classes, and displayed through eligible public features, as described below.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict the use of your personal information.

Information you provide to us

We collect information you choose to provide when you create an account, use Harbor, contact us, make a purchase, participate in surveys, or otherwise interact with the service.

This information is used to provide Harbor’s exam-readiness features and improve the accuracy, usefulness, and reliability of the service.

Payment information

If you purchase a subscription or paid feature, payment information may be processed by third-party payment providers such as Stripe. Harbor does not store full credit card numbers. Payment providers process payment data according to their own privacy policies.

When you use Harbor, we may automatically collect technical and usage information, including:

We may use de-identified or aggregated information for research, analytics, product improvement, model improvement, reporting, and business purposes.

3. AI and Personalization

Harbor uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to help students prepare for exams. This may include analyzing uploaded materials, study behavior, quiz responses, and progress data to generate personalized outputs.

Harbor may use this information to:

Improve the quality and accuracy of Harbor’s systems

To provide AI features, Harbor sends relevant content and context to AI service providers, including OpenAI. Depending on the feature, this can include uploaded documents, extracted text and images, recordings, transcripts, prompts, practice answers, and related class information. These providers process that information to produce or evaluate outputs such as transcripts, summaries, study elements, explanations, and practice questions.

Harbor retains processing and quality-review records that may include source extracts, prompts, model responses, parsed results, generated study content, and processing metadata. Authorized personnel and providers may review relevant records for troubleshooting, quality evaluation, support, security, and provenance. These records can contain personal information and are subject to our retention and privacy-request practices. Evaluating a generated answer or improving a prompt does not itself train a provider's general-purpose model. Any materially different use of previously collected personal information remains subject to applicable notice and consent requirements.

AI-generated outputs may be imperfect. Harbor is designed to support studying and exam preparation, but it does not guarantee academic performance, test results, grades, or admission outcomes.

4. When We Share Information

We may share information with third parties in the following situations.

These providers may access personal information only as needed to perform services for us and are expected to protect the information they process on our behalf.

Class contributions, connected users, and public content

Classmates with access to the relevant class features may see processed notes, summaries, generated elements, and associated upload information such as titles, filenames, and dates. Connected friends may receive uploader information, including your name and email address, through relevant class and social features. Choose submission titles and filenames with that visibility in mind.

Harbor reuses generated learning content across relevant classes, courses, and schools. Eligible content may appear on public class, element, and sharing pages without requiring an account. Public content may be copied or indexed outside Harbor. Original uploaded files have separate access controls; contributing to a class does not by itself make the original file publicly downloadable. Authorized personnel and service providers may access originals for the purposes described in this notice.

Quiz challenges, shared results, invitations, and messages can disclose the information relevant to the sharing feature and audience you choose. Shared class content does not automatically make your private learner records or personal messages public. Processed or shared content may still contain personal information; transformation alone does not make information anonymous.

Legal compliance and safety

We may disclose information if we believe it is necessary to:

Aggregated or de-identified information

We may share aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies, pixels, SDKs, local storage, and similar technologies to:

Optional advertising technologies from Meta, Google, and TikTok may be used to measure campaigns, build audiences of people who visited Harbor, and show Harbor advertising on those services. Harbor does not send uploaded notes, school or class names, exam information, readiness scores, weak areas, quiz answers, or study content to advertising platforms.

You can use Cookie settings on any Harbor web page to allow or reject Analytics and Advertising cookies separately and to change your choice later. Necessary cookies remain active for security, sessions, and saved privacy choices. You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Some features may not work properly if necessary cookies are disabled.

Harbor treats an enabled Global Privacy Control browser signal as a rejection of Advertising cookies. Where required by law, non-essential advertising technologies remain inactive until you choose to allow them.

6. Marketing Communications

We may send you emails, messages, or notifications about Harbor, including product updates, study reminders, offers, and educational content.

You can opt out of marketing emails by using the unsubscribe link in the email or contacting us at privacy@readywithharbor.com. Even if you opt out of marketing, we may still send service-related communications, such as account, security, billing, and policy updates.

7. Push Notifications

If you use Harbor’s mobile application, we may ask for permission to send push notifications, including study reminders, exam-readiness alerts, product updates, and account messages.

You can disable push notifications through your device settings.

8. Mobile Device Permissions and Recordings

Harbor may request access to your camera, photos, files, microphone, or notifications depending on the features you use. For example, camera or file access lets you submit class materials, and microphone access lets you record a lecture.

When you submit a recording, Harbor receives audio and related metadata and may create transcripts and study materials through its processing providers. Audio and transcripts can contain your voice and information about other participants. Obtain the permissions required for recording, processing, and sharing before using the feature; device microphone permission does not provide consent from other people.

You can manage device permissions in your device settings. Withdrawing a device permission prevents future use of that permission but does not by itself remove information already submitted. Personal-information requests follow the process below.

9. Data Retention and Account Closure

We retain personal information for the periods reasonably needed for the purposes described in this notice, taking into account the nature of the information, the feature involved, legal obligations, security needs, dispute resolution, and applicable privacy rights. A reference to service improvement or shared content does not permit indefinite retention of personal information without an applicable purpose and lawful basis.

Closing your account

The account-closure control in settings disables sign-in, revokes sessions and linked login access, and removes or replaces selected account-profile details. It does not by itself erase every associated record or file. Uploaded source files, processed content, class contributions, study lineage, communications, billing records, agreement-acceptance evidence, and operational records may remain and may still contain information that identifies you.

Shared study contributions can continue to support other learners and Harbor's class knowledge network after account closure. That continued availability is subject to applicable law, valid rights requests, and intellectual-property complaints. We do not treat all retained or transformed content as anonymous, and a content license does not override a legal obligation to restrict or delete personal information.

Requests about retained personal information

You may request access, correction, deletion, or export of personal information through the contact methods in Section 11, including after account closure. We assess the request across relevant records and service providers, verify identity when needed, and respond within the periods required by applicable law. Where an exception permits or requires retention, we will explain the applicable reason and any available appeal rights. Account closure alone is not confirmation that all personal information has been deleted.

Retention decisions consider source and generated material, processing/debug records, communications, billing and transaction records, agreement-acceptance evidence used to establish legal rights and obligations, other legal and security evidence, service providers, and backups. Backups may retain historical records until their applicable rotation or expiry. Any retained personal information remains subject to appropriate restrictions and applicable law. Aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably identify you may be retained for the purposes described in this notice.

Canceling a subscription is separate from closing an account. Use the billing provider's cancellation controls or contact support if you cannot access them, as described in our Terms of Use.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical, administrative, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information.

However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties will never be able to defeat our safeguards or improperly access, use, disclose, alter, or destroy information.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.

11. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

Delete personal information

Receive a copy of personal information you provided

Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

Object to or restrict certain processing

Opt out of certain targeted advertising, sale, or sharing of personal information

We may need to verify your identity before processing your request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.

12. United States State Privacy Rights

Residents of certain U.S. states, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, and others, may have additional privacy rights under applicable state privacy laws.

Depending on the law that applies, these rights may include the right to know, access, correct, delete, obtain a copy of, or opt out of certain processing of personal information.

Where applicable, you may opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or sharing of personal information by using cookie settings, browser controls, or contacting us.

We do not knowingly sell personal information of users under 16.

13. Categories of Personal Information We May Collect

Depending on how you use Harbor, we may collect the following categories of personal information:

Identifiers, such as name, email address, account ID, username, IP address, and device identifiers

Commercial information, such as subscription status, purchase history, and payment-related records

Internet or network activity, such as usage logs, feature activity, and interactions with Harbor

Geolocation information, such as approximate location derived from IP address

Education-related information, such as course names, study materials, exam dates, uploaded documents, study activity, and readiness data

Inferences, such as readiness estimates, weak areas, preferences, study patterns, and recommended actions

Audio, visual, or electronic information, such as uploaded images, documents, or recordings if you choose to provide them

Customer support information, such as messages, requests, and feedback

We use these categories for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

14. Sensitive Personal Information

Harbor is not designed to collect sensitive personal information unless you choose to include it in uploaded content, messages, or study materials.

Sensitive personal information may include information such as government identification numbers, precise location, health information, race, ethnicity, religious beliefs, or other protected information.

Please avoid uploading sensitive information unless it is necessary for your use of Harbor.

Where required by law, we will obtain consent or provide required choices before processing sensitive personal information.

15. Children and Age Requirements

Harbor is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will take steps to delete it.

16. School and Institutional Use

If Harbor is used through a school, college, university, tutoring organization, or other institution, additional terms may apply.

Where an institution provides access to Harbor, the institution may control certain information, account settings, or records. Users should contact the institution with questions about information controlled by that institution.

Unless separately agreed in writing, Harbor is provided directly to users as an exam-readiness service and is not intended to replace official school systems, academic records, or institutional learning management systems.

17. Third-Party Links and Services

Harbor may contain links to third-party websites, platforms, or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or security of third-party services.

Your use of third-party services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

18. Social Logins

If you create or access your Harbor account using a third-party login provider, such as Google or Apple, we may receive information such as your name, email address, profile photo, and authentication details.

The information shared depends on your settings and the provider’s policies.

19. Do-Not-Track Signals

Some browsers offer Do-Not-Track signals. Because there is no uniform legal or technical standard for responding to these signals, Harbor does not currently respond to Do-Not-Track signals unless required by applicable law.

20. International Users

If you access Harbor from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored in, or processed in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate.

These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction.

21. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time and identify the version with the date above.

For material changes, we will provide notice through Harbor, by email, or another appropriate method. Where applicable law requires consent for a new or materially different use of previously collected information, we will obtain that consent before making that use. Continued use alone does not replace consent where consent is required.

23. Review, Update, or Request Deletion of Your Information

You may review and update certain account information or close your account through settings. As explained in Section 9, account closure and deletion of all associated personal information are different processes.
